SATAIM - - Earth Station AZ/EL Chart Printer, Version 2.3
_______________________________________________________________________________
What does it do? SATAIM provides a printed chart which lists AZ/EL aiming
coordinates for geosynchronous satellites of interest to
North America.
___________________________________________________________
What you'll need An IBM compatible AND a printer. No screen display of
coordinates is provided...yet. The program's two files -
SATAIM.EXE and SAT.FIL - must be in the same directory.
___________________________________________________________
New to v2.3 The following enhancements have been made in version 2.3:
- Satellite information has been updated to include the
Galaxy 1 move, as well as several other "event" through
mid-July '91.
- "Frequency" column on the printout has been expanded to
accommodate user comments (examples such as "Inclined
Orbit" have been included).
___________________________________________________________
Using SATAIM To print a satellite coordinate chart, follow these steps:
System Prompt... Enter...
TERMINAL LOCATION? Earth Station name (whatever name
you may use to refer to the dish
location).
LATITUDE? Numbers in this format: xx,xx,xx
LONGITUDE? (degrees, minutes, seconds).
NOTE: Leading zeroes are not
needed.
Hit any key to Print, Any key to print, "Q" to quit.
"Q" to quit...
Need extra copies? Y or N. If NO, program ends. If
YES, program asks...
How many (1 to 5)? 1 to 5...SATAIM will print the
requested number of copies.
___________________________________________________________
SAT.FIL SAT.FIL contains all of SATAIM's satellite information and
can be easily changed if you wish to add or delete
satellites. SAT.FIL currently has a separate line for each
of 38 satellites, but may contain up to 40 lines. If
SAT.FIL is edited to more than 40 lines, the program will
not continue.

_______________________________________________________________________________
Text Editing Any ASCII text editor may be used, as long as it does not
embed any word processing codes.
___________________________________________________________
Deleting a When deleting a satellite, be sure to delete the entire
Satellite line (including carriage return/line feed).
___________________________________________________________
Adding a To add a satellite, insert a new line containing the
Satellite following information:
- the satellite's longitudinal position
- the name of the satellite (13 characters max.)
- a comment line (25 characters max.)
EXAMPLE:
999.9,"BOGUSTAR 2","Ku/X - Experimental craft"
___________________________________________________________
Helpful Hints Keep in mind the following when editing satellite
information:
- use commas and quotes where indicated.
- make a separate line for each satellite's information.
- insert new lines in proper longitudinal order (program
does not sort list).
- be careful when editing, since no error-checking is
done on the information in SAT.FIL (the program only
checks for the file's presence and whether it has
40 lines or fewer).
___________________________________________________________
Input Problem? Although SATAIM has been successfully tested on several
different machines and BIOSes, at least two users have
reported a strange incompatibility. With their particular
systems, the program refuses to accept valid Latitude or
Longitude input.
It has been determined that if the input error-checking
code is disabled, the program works fine on their machines.
If you experience this problem, I'll be happy to upload a
similarly modified program to your mailbox.
